U.S. President Barack Obama
and German Chancellor Angela Merkel examine a model of Ky-Sat 2 during the
Hannover Messe Technology Conference, held April 25 - 29 in Hannover, Germany.
A tiny spacecraft built by space science students at
Morehead State University got worldwide attention this week at the annual
Hannover Messe Technology Conference in Hannover, Germany.
KySat-2 was a joint project between MSU and Kentucky Space,
and a model of the spacecraft was part of a Kentucky Space/Space Tango exhibit at
the conference. The conference showcases innovations in technology, robotics,
industrial machinery and more.
No bigger than a loaf of bread, KY-Sat 2 is classified as a
cubesat, the smallest class of satellite. It was launched in 2013 as part of
NASA’s ELaNa program and is used to conduct technology validation experiments.
