Kentucky high school students who excel in science,
technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) classes will have the
opportunity next year thanks to an exciting new program from MSU.
The Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics
allows exceptional high school students to live on the Morehead State campus
and earn up to two years of college credit while they complete high school. Students
will be able to use the Recreation and Wellness Center, participate in most
student organizations and on-campus activities, play on intramural sports teams
and more, giving them the complete college experience.
In order to qualify to attend the Craft Academy, students
must complete geometry, Algebra I and Algebra II during their first two years
of high school. In addition, students interested in the Academy must:
- Apply for admission before Feb. 1, 2015
- Be a resident of the state of Kentucky
- Have a ACT math score of 22 or higher or an SAT math score of 520 or higher.
Admission to the academy includes tuition, boarding and a
meal plan (19 meals per week). Students will be responsible for paying for
books, additional meals and other miscellaneous expenses. Students will take
core classes in STEM fields and electives in the arts and humanities.
Students admitted to the Craft Academy will live in the
newly renovated Grote-Thompson Hall, located in the heart of MSU’s beautiful,
historic campus, which is ranked as one of the safest college campuses in the
state. The hall will be staffed 24 hours a day, giving students of the Academy
the full college experience in a safe, structured environment.
The Craft Academy will accept 60 students for the fall of
2015. Check out one of our recruitment
