According to the
Bureau of Labor Statistics, “employment of paralegals and legal assistants is
projected to grow 17 percent from 2012 to 2022, faster than the average of all
occupations.” Morehead State University prepares legal studies students to
immediately enter the work force upon graduation.
During your time as
a student in the legal studies program at MSU, you will gain hands-on
experience and contribute to a variety of community projects including staffing
pro se divorce clinics, wills clinics, prescription drug program enrollment for
seniors and working with grade school students to conduct mock trials. You will
also have the opportunity to work alongside law office professionals, judges,
public defenders, county attorneys and non-profit legal service office
professionals as part of our internship program.
A variety of career
opportunities are available to graduates of our program, including careers in:
- Law offices
- Courts
- Government (local, state and federal)
- Non-profits
- Corporations (hospitals, insurance companies, corporate risk assessment departments and trust and collection departments of banks and businesses)
