MSU's Department of Art and Design offers new Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree is considered to be the most prestigious bachelor’s degree that one can receive in the visual arts. At MSU, you can now pursue your BFA in art and design, or art and design with teacher certification (P-12).

These professionally-oriented, specialized degrees will better equip you for entrance into a Master of Fine Arts program with disciplines such as painting, ceramics, graphic design, animation, printmaking and photography.

The new Bachelor of Fine Arts programs are more selective and you will have to apply for entrance into one of the programs (usually within your sophomore year). To apply for admittance, you must submit a portfolio application. Portfolios are reviewed twice a year by faculty (once in the fall semester and once in the spring).

For more information about the new Bachelor of Fine Arts programs, visit www.moreheadstate.edu/study/art. You may also reach out to MSU’s BFA coordinator, Chris Field (ck.field@moreheadstate.edu).
