MSU space science program featured in Story Magazine

The Space Science Program at MSU was featured in the latest edition of Story Magazine, a quarterly publication dedicated to telling the stories of unique individuals, businesses and programs throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

MSU has a key role to play in the economic growth of the state. According to Dr. Ben Malphrus, chair of the department of earth and space science, aerospace technology is Kentucky’s number one manufactured export and a business that brings in $5.6 billion annually.  As the industry continues to grow, MSU is preparing students to be a part of that growth with its offerings in space science, astrophysics and the new masters of space science engineering program. All of the programs focus on hands-on experiential learning, allowing students to be involved in the planning, design, construction, launch and monitoring of satellites and spacecrafts.

The space science program at MSU is one of only five of its kind in the country,  giving its graduates an edge as they enter the job market. Students from the Department of Earth and Space Science go on to pursue successful, rewarding careers in space systems development, aerospace engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering, micro-nanotechnology engineering, research, teaching and much more.
