MSU’s arts entrepreneurship minor is the only one of its
kind offered in Kentucky and complements a variety of degrees in the
humanities, including art, music, theatre and more.
As a student studying the arts, acquiring additional skills
to complement your creative strengths will benefit you and help you stand out
in a competitive job market.
The Arts Entrepreneurship minor will equip you with the
skill set you need to run your own business, work with arts organizations
(profit and nonprofit) and take charge of your own creative brand.
You will complete 21 hours of coursework focused on the
following:
- Arts administration
- Arts entrepreneurship
- Finance and business
- Legal issues
- Management
- Marketing and communication
You will also develop creative skills in the following:
- Product development
- Promotion and visual branding
- Client and audience analysis
- Pricing models
- Bookkeeping and cash flow planning
- Cultivating financial support through grants loans and crowd sourcing platforms
- Recognizing and seizing opportunities
