Child development degrees prepare students for careers operating private childcare programs

MSU's Bachelor of Arts in Child Development and the Child Development Associate program prepares you for careers working in or managing private childcare and day care programs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of preschool and childcare center directors is projected to grow 17 percent through 2022, faster than the average for all occupations.

Coursework focuses on the stages of child development, as well as factors impacting the development of children. You will gain knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and learn how to prepare instruction and learning environments for children with and without disabilities. Graduates are equipped to design early childhood programs that follow state childcare regulations and are able to articulate child development management strategies.
