Interdisciplinary International studies major prepares students for a variety of professions

The interdisciplinary international studies program at MSU serves students who would like to achieve a deeper understanding of other nations and cultures, languages and how historical and cultural backgrounds shape current events. 

Students will develop interdisciplinary analytical skills and assess current political and economic changes. The program combines classroom learning with practical application of international concepts and students complete a required study abroad experience approved by the department.

The program includes tracks of study specializing in the Eurasian region, Latin American region, European region and Africa and the Middle Eastern region.

Professions relying on a background in international studies include those in:
  • Business
  • Communication
  • Education
  • Journalism
  • Law
  • Public services
  • Social work
Completing an interdisciplinary international studies major also prepares students for entrance into graduate school.
